Looking for something positive to do on a Monday morning?

Get the week off to a good start by coming along to the new drop in social club at the Gillingham football club, behind RiversMeet Leisure Centre, which starts on Monday 9th June. The sessions will run from 10.00am to 12.00, every Monday morning.

There will be friendly people to meet, activities such as skittles, pool, darts. Coffee and biscuits (50p) will be available, admission is free, but any donations to help with hire of premises is welcome. As the group develops we hope to offer some craft workshops and training courses.

The club is open to any age adults and has been set up by Lynne White of the Community Resource Team, Annette Leat POPP Champion and Caroline Bottomley from SCOPE, along with support from Belinda Ridout, Gillingham Job Club, Sarah Reeves, Three Rivers Partnership and Michael Giddings, from Cole Street Co-Housing.

We hope this facility will meet a need for an affordable place for those who may not be at work, to meet up with other people. So whether you are unemployed, looking for new opportunities or just curious we would like to welcome you to the new Monday social club.

“We know there are many people who sometimes feel isolated, so we encourage anyone you think might enjoy a weekly social to come along,” said Annette Leat from POPP

We would like to say thank you to ASDA for help with providing the refreshments and Three Rivers Lottery for giving a start up grant.

This is a pilot project and we welcome volunteers to help run the group either on the day or to get involved with fundraising and admin. For further information contact, Annette Leat ( Dorset Partnership for Older People) telephone 07436102434 or Lynne White, Community Resource Team, telephone 0789906419.
